Devlog 2: Design Aspects
For week 9, the project team primarily worked on the design aspects of the game, focusing on the modelling of the player and game's audio design. All new material was added to our GitHub repository, including new modifications in the enemy AI and scenes.
We conducted meetings via Discord to discuss information about improvements in coding scripts and implementing new materials to the project. Creating the player model's hands using Blender 4.0 has been a major task for the week, and the preparation of the animation aspect of the player has been placed. The overall progress of modelling has unfortunately been a bit slow due to the modeller's absence, which we may have to supplement with third-party models.
Modelling
While the modeller has been absent, they managed to model a complex aspect of the character: hands! This task was done by creating a separate mesh and mirroring it, so that a second hand could be placed on the opposite side. The sculpting of the hand was accomplished through extrusion, cutting, bevelling, scaling, moving, and rotating a cube mesh until the below result was produced. This aspect of the model is important as the player will later hold a knife as their main weapon.

Foley
Another design task worked on week 9 was the implementation of some audio design. Our foley artist worked on the creation of footsteps which would be activated when the player moves. Alongside this, they also created a knife sounds for when the player's weapon makes contact with a wall. The process of creating these sound effects was mainly via tapping or scraping physical objects together, recorded close to a microphone.

Overall, the week 9 progress has mainly revolved around improving the quality of design features, for player character model and audio design. In the coming weeks, we aim to focus on improving the code and implementing the rest of the game's core features, before refining the visuals and gameplay.
